Who are you ?
Substantially, a carbon-based life form. Other similar life forms call me Andrea.
What do you do for living ?
I help knowledge- and intellect-based organizations, including IT companies, to rethink their mental models, their organizational dynamics, their organizational structures, their practices and their processes.
The goal is to let them function better in our current times, for their own benefit and for the benefit of the people inside and outside the organization.
In practice, I work closely with executives, managers and teams and I do a number of things including one-on-one coaching, team coaching, consulting on specific themes and hands-on training.
I’m especially interested in knowledge-based leadership and self-organization, a topic that touches on a number on subjects, including non-conventional organizational structures and individual communication and social skills. Oh, and I also do Agile and Lean.
I worked with organizations as big the United Nations’ FAO and as small as dynamic post-startup companies, in many different countries. That means that I have a wide range of expertise, in both the public and private sector, with both large and small organizations and with different cultures.
What do you want talk about at Lean Kanban France ?
Value. This is a topic that I’ve been exploring from different perspectives in the last year or so. We usually tend to associate (or are being told to associate) value with money, so delivering value to the client is generally understood as “help the client make money”.
This is certainly essential, but it’s not the only dimension of value. In fact, money is sometimes defined as “a store of value”, but it’s not value per se.
So, what are the other dimensions of value? Well, that’s what I’d like to talk about.
What will make you say ‘waouh’ at the end of the conference ?
The hallway conversations. I speak at about 12–15 conferences every year and all of them are organized very well and have great content. So what makes a difference for me is the people at the conference and the interactions outside of the sessions.
What will make you think that attendees have learnt a lot during your session ?
The puzzled looks and/or the sparkle in their eyes.
What is your favorite word ?
Any word that is kind and meaningful.
What is the word you hate ?
Fortunately none. But I’m aware that some words lift me up while others drag me down.
What is the sound, the noise that you love ?
Many. The trickling of the rain or the flowing of a clean stream of water are just some that come to my mind at the moment.
Who is the man or woman to illustrate a new banknote ?
I suppose that Nikola Tesla could well be on every country’s banknotes, not just on Serbian ones.
What is the job that you would not have liked to do ?
I’ve been fortunate enough to be able to do the thing I like. I don’t often think of the other extreme, but I’m pretty sure that anything that would be detrimental to others is not in my cords.
What is the plant, tree or animal in which you would like to be reincarnated ?
I think that not reincarnating at all would be a better option, especially if you do believe in reincarnation.
If God exists, what would you like, after your death, hear him to say?
“We apologize for the inconvenience”, of course! (the fans of Douglas Adams will recognize the quote).
